Susan Homan brings 40 years of training experience in the hunter/jumper industry to Susan Homan Show Stables. Over the course of her training career, she has established clienteles in both Central Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia.  


A hallmark of Susan's training philosophy is a commitment to ethical training and showing grounded in a deep love for horses and respect for their riders. Her clients consistently note her clear, positive, and results oriented teaching style.  Expect to see results during your first lesson! Stuck in a rut or have a challenge?  She can help move you and your horse forward. 


Susan's ties to the State College area run deep. She received a bachelor's degree from Penn State in Equine Science in 1978 and rode on the Penn State Equestrian Team. As a junior rider, Susan competed in the Medal Finals at Harrisburg and the Maclay Finals at Madison Square Garden. 

Susan regularly sharpens her skills and her training portfolio by riding with top professionals. The list of those that she has ridden with includes George Morris, Beezie Madden, Chris Kappler, Ronnie Mutch, and Anne Kursinksi. 

Susan has a proven track record of success for her clients in the show ring.  She has qualified riders for national hunter, jumper, and equitation finals, including the Medal Finals. Recent highlights include qualifying and training clients at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, and the $250,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix Finals. She also trained the winner of the 2016 VHSA Adult Medal Finals.
